The Education Crisis in Ghana: Why We Act

Since 1957, Ghana has worked to expand its educational offerings, yet for many, the "right to education" remains out of reach. While the system follows a 6-3-3 structure (Primary, Junior High, and Senior High), the financial reality for families is a major barrier.

The Poverty Trap: With nearly 50% of the population living on less than $300 per year, "free" schooling is often an illusion. Families are responsible for uniforms, books, and transport - costs that lead many to pull their children out of school to work.

The Journey to the Streets: In rural areas like Bosomabra, the nearest state school is a 14km round trip on foot. This lack of access drives parents to send children to cities like Accra, hoping for help. Instead, many of these children join the estimated 32,000 minors living on the streets.

A Reality Since 2018

At Go For Ghana e.V., we believe that education is the only sustainable way out of poverty. We don't just plan for the future - we are active today.

Our Growing Community

Since 2018, the Farm of Hope has been a sanctuary for education and growth. Today, we are proud to support 220 students who live and study on our grounds. By providing a safe home and a high-quality education, we are removing the barriers of distance, hunger, and cost that previously stood in their way.

Our Innovative School Concept

Our primary school serves both the street children living with us and the local children from the village of Bosomabra.

While we currently support 220 students, the need in Ghana remains vast. Our farm serves as a role model for the region—showing that with solidarity and "Help for Self-Help," we can turn a cycle of poverty into a cycle of opportunity.
